On the afternoon of February 9, 2010, seventeen year- old student Mackenzie Cowell left the Academy of Hair Design in Wenatchee, Washington. Her abandoned red 1997 Pontiac Grand Prix was found at ten p.m. four miles away in Pitcher Canyon with her clothing and purse inside the car.

The worst fears of her family and friends were realized when at 12:45 p.m. on February 13, 2010, someone walking on a beach along the Columbia River discovered her body. It was near the resort area of Crescent Bar downstream from where her car had been found. She had been strangled, stabbed and suffered a blow to the head. It appeared someone had put her body there.

On the night of August 18, 2010, I had dinner in Honolulu with my friend Loretta Cayton. Her husband and seventeen-year-old daughter are from Wenatchee, Washington. Loretta relayed the tragic story of her neighbors, the Cowell family. She stated there were no leads in the murder of her friend’s daughter.

Loretta requested that Hawaii Remote Viewers’ Guild work this case as a project. I tasked the target to HRVG viewers, who worked it blind...
