Precursor event, Psi-Tech conversation (Part 1)
What follows is a verbatim copy of messages posted on PSI-TECH’s "Open Discussion" bulletin board (as part of the "Is This It?" thread) by me, and Ed Dames’ response to my first message. After posting the second message (also reposted in this thread), my Psi-Tech account was evidently cancelled, and all my BB messages cut.
Since I had been sharing the conversation, as it occurred, with the subscribers of EARTH-CHANGES WEEKLY (an e-digest I publish), all were witnesses to the aforementioned events. I repost here in the interest of public information & debate.

Subject: Precursor event (gamma-ray burst), Dames’ response
(Text preceded by ">" is my original post on Psi-Tech’s bulletin board. Ed Dames’ response follows…)
>Quoting from the news article about Aug. 27’s >gamma/X-ray burst from the distant star which hit >Earth…>”The gamma rays hurt no one, and were not visible, >>when they hit the atmosphere over the Hawaiian >>Islands on Aug. 27,”
>Yet the original prediction (as excerpted from "Coast >to Coast" transcripts) stated, in part…"When this precursor flare hits, people looking >directly at the sky will be blinded. We will feel it >in terms of light and heat…" (as stated by Ed Dames)I can understand how a remote viewed event of an >energy-burst from one star might be confused with that >from another star (i.e., our sun), but what happened >to the remote viewed results of such a "precursor >event", as stated above? That’s a rather specific >result from said event, and indicates – to me at least > – that the Aug. 27th gamma/x-ray burst from astar 20,000 light-years away hitting Earth’s upper >atmosphere IS *NOT* the remote viewed "precursor >event" (the "shot across the bow") to 1999’s ”killer >flare”.Comments? — Peter
The August phenomenon appears to be what I have termed the precursor("shot across the bow") event. The "kill shot" will also be stellar in nature and origin, however the source will be our own star. Although PSI TECH did not have extensive information on the precursor…we do for the kill shot.
Heat and eye damage were postulates — not raw TRV data — and obviously incorrect ones. The kill shot will be much easier to recognize.
From Art Bell program transcripts, discussing the nature of what PSI TECH had termed the "Discontinuity" (i.e., a discontinuity in human evolution):
Bell: When did you nail it down?
Dames: I think about eleven months ago. We finally pulled it all together by looking at the source of this event. By concentrating only on the source, rather than the effects. At first we thought that we were dealing with a neutron star burst somewhere in another part of the galaxy. Then, with more work, we realized that it was our own star…the Sun.

Re: Precursor event, Psi-Tech conversation (Part 2)
Below is a copy of my response to Dames’ followup (see above for his followup), originally posted on Psi-Tech’s "Open Discussion" board ("Is This It?" thread).
For those who are interested, EARTH-CHANGES WEEKLY can be found at the attached link.
My interest in Dames’ precursor prediction stems from the fact that I am a prophecy tracker (such tracking is included in ECWeekly), and Dames is one of 8 people whose 1998 predictions I am presently tracking.

Subject: precursor event, TRVing conversation…
On 10/1/98 1:29:55 AM, Ed Dames wrote: Heat and eye damage were postulates – not raw TRV >data – and obviously incorrect ones.
The issue of the precursor event itself aside, I found the above part of the response disturbing.
How are listeners supposed to differentiate between statements, about future T.R.V.’ed events, based on actual raw data and those which are merely postulations?
Other than rather subtle nuances in the language used (i.e., it "may" result in), there are no cues that let the average listener know which is which. And, unfortunately, such verbal subtleties aren’t enough in many cases anyway.
No, when the stakes are as high as this – a Precursor event to what could be the end of life as we know it – subtlety be damned.
I don’t know if this would be better addressed through presentation – by drawing a clear line between what raw data shows, and Psi-Tech’s members’ educated guesses as to what may follow – or via more homework. Meaning, "extensive information" (as you put it) about the precursor event should’ve been gleaned before going on-air, so postulations wouldn’t be necessary.
Of course, I realize that additional TRV sessions may not necessarily result in more useable information, but educated guesswork still makes for a poor substitute.
In conclusion, the above referenced statement by Maj. Dames opens up a huge can of worms, IMO. Of the other dozen or so predictions (or, more specifically, TRV’ed future scenarios) released by Psi-Tech – as stated by Dames on "Coast to Coast AM" – which parts (of each one) are based on raw TRV data and which parts were postulated from data?
For me, at least, this muddies the ‘remote viewing’ waters altogether. I
hope Maj. Dames can provide some clarity in the matter.
Peter
Psi-tech data is 100%…….
untill it doesn’t happen or doesn’t match reality. Then, it becomes postulated data. Its probably going
to be explained in the advanced training.
Meanwhile, don’t drip mustard on your t-shirt.
Re: Precursor event, Psi-Tech conversation (Part 2)
What follows is the reposting of an open letter sent to the subscribers of EARTH-CHANGES WEEKLY, explaining what occurred after the above message (see Part 2) was posted on Psi-Tech’s "Open Discussion" board.
For those who are interested, results of my prophecy tracking (mentioned previously) can be found at the attached link. Dames’ ’98 predictions are included in those I’m presently tracking.

Subject: Precursor event: Access cut, question unanswered
A short time ago, I went to the PSI-TECH website to see if anybody had responded to my questions (posted on their bulletin board) regarding "raw TRV data vs. postulations". (A copy of that post was sent to the list yesterday, 10/2, titled "precursor event, TRVing conversation…")
When trying to log into the OPEN DISCUSSION bulletin board on the site, I found that my password didn’t work. There is an option on the site to "check" your password (I guess if somebody forgets theirs, this is an option to recall it or to verify one is registered), and upon submitting my name & password I was routed to the "Add a New User" choice.
In short, I no longer had a password to Psi-Tech’s "OPEN" Discussion board.
Knowing that I could get a new password by re-applying (once you apply, the automated system emails you a password), I did.
I then immediately logged on, and checked the "OPEN" DISCUSSION board.
Not only was my "raw TRV data vs. postulation" message gone (and, yes, I did re-log on yesterday, shortly after posting said message, to verify it was posted. It WAS there yesterday) BUT MY ORIGINAL POST, i.e. the one asking about the predicted results of a precursor event, WAS GONE TOO.
Ironically, Dames’ reply to my first post on Psi-Tech’s board remained, in which he quoted my post, but in effect it now reads (if one scrolls down the OPEN DISCUSSION board, "Is This It" thread) as if Dames’ is replying to a non-existent question/post.
I had concluded my "raw TRV data vs. postulation" post by asking that Maj. Dames provide some clarity in the matter.
Psi-Tech’s response is LOUD and CLEAR.

Whoops. The above article, to which this is posted as a "response" in the thread, should’ve been relabelled as PART 3.
This is part 4 (of 4), and is a reposting of an open letter to EARTH-CHANGES WEEKLY subscribers, sharing an email sent to Psi-Tech’s webmaster.
As of now (Sunday, 12:21pmPDT) it has been approx. 12 hours since the email itself was sent to Psi-Tech. If there is a response, it will be included in an article to appear in this week’s ECWeekly (which will "go to press" in another 12-13 hours.)
Comments on the preceding discourse are welcomed. Permission to repost the entire 4-part thread on other related sites is given as long as it is posted in its entirety & with no changes made (the one exception being that PART 3 can be relabelled as such in the header of that message). — Peter

Mr. Duda,
I attempted to log into Psi-Tech’s OPEN DISCUSSION bulletin board this evening, in order to see if anybody responded to my post of yesterday regarding "raw TRV data vs. postulations" (in the IS THIS IT? thread.)
I found that my password no longer worked and, in fact, when I used the in-system "password verification" option, I was routed to the ‘Add a New User’ option.
After applying for another password (which the automated system sent me via email), I re-logged in and found that my post about "raw TRV data vs. postulations" was gone (and, yes, I did log back in yesterday, shortly after posting said message, and saw that it did indeed appear on the board as posted). Not only that, but my original post in the IS THIS IT? thread, regarding the predicted effects of the precursor event, was now also gone.
In short, all evidence of my activity on PSI-TECH’s board had been erased, the questions in my last post unanswered, my access cut.
In conclusion, I would simply like an explanation. Is the OPEN DISCUSSION board for *OPEN* discussion of TRV, or not? Why is my original site password no longer working, and where have my two posts gone?
I had been keeping the readers of my online newsletter abreast of the open discussion taking place on Psi-Tech’s board, and now don’t quite know what to tell them. I am, however, sure you can help me in this matter.
I thank you for your time,

Re: Precursor event, Psi-Tech conversation (Part 4 of 4)
I guess you have had the experience of so many other people interested in RV in search for answers, but sure as hell not getting any out of Psi-Tech.
One example of their unwillingness to cooperate and a sign of great paranoia or fear is the fact that ANYONE with a Hawaii servername (LavaNet, Aloha, pixi etc.) are immediately banned from their chatsite by their V.P. Joni Dourif A.K.A "Pele" upon entry. You don’t even have to write anything because they believe that anyone from Hawaii with an interest in RV is affiliated with HRVG, which automatically excludes you from participation.
What it boils down to is the fact that they are a money making business trying to eliminate all competition and they don’t care the slightest about the truth and answering tough questions.
I don’t have any doubt that TRV is a valid tool for extracting low-level data, but I have yet to see Psi-Tech post any high-level detailed skeds with an adequate analysis to support any of the claims they have made.
Where are the Amelia Earhart skeds??? And even more important, where are the skeds that predict a near extinction of the human race??? Psi-Tech have made some very serious claims and don’t have squat to back it up. Can you imagine all the gullible people sitting at home listening to Art Bell scared out of their minds because of what they are hearing, making all kinds of plans to escape the "kill shot", selling their house, moving etc. etc.
It is obvious to me that Ed Dames and his affiliates have NO decency, or credibility whatsoever until they serve up some data to back up their claims.
If they post their skeds in totality, as well as the methodology used, I would be willing as well as many others interested in RV to post my analysis of the work, and if it supports a "kill shot" then salute to Psi-tech for a good job. But until then, Psi-Tech is nothing but a foul business teetering on the edge of the Moronic Abyss.
Aloha to my fellow seekers of knowledge. Jim

Of the eight people you’re tracking for future predictions, who in your opinion is the most accurate?

Re: Precursor event, Psi-Tech conversation (Part 4 of 4)
Yes, they lack decency and accountability.
The very first time I heard Ed Dames he talked about babies dying, en masse, from a bovine form of AIDS. I was sitting there with a nearly born grand child and it scared me to death. I don’t know how long I (and others) spent trying to get him to clarify his statements but we met with complete silence from Dames and anger, from his minions, for asking. I finally caught him in the Chat Room one night and he told me that he had dropped the baby info because he had more important things to do. Now, I personally thought nothing else could be more important but that was not my call. WHat is unforgiveable is that he did not have the decency to respond to our many posts and simply state that so all would know that he had no more info and did not intend to pursure it further. This was arrogance of the worst sort and, to me, typifies Dames, Dourif and PSI TECH altogether. I hate to be an armchair psychiatrist, but i think I encountered some of their game plans in my psych books. I am glad that someone is trying to hold them accountable.
Don’t feel to bad about being excluded for being in Hawaii, they are not crazy about people from Renton, Washington, either.

Re: Precursor event, Psi-Tech conversation (Part 4 of 4)
Aloha Miss Kay,
Like you I am a veteran of many nights of chat at the Psi-Tech site. The Babies dying prediction strikes the deepest type of fear especially in those of us that are parents. We all want our children to outlive us.
The shock marketing used by Psi-Tech is a brutal assault on people everywhere. People have packed up and headed to the hills, dismantled their lives and forced a radical change in the lifestyle and quality of their life.
WHY?
If Psi-Tech uses a national radio platform to tell the country that babies will begin dying enmasse then they have a responsibility to be accountable for the impact of their actions on the public. They are responsible to proffer the evidence, the news, the updates or the retractions. The creation of a panic state over a dire prediction of doom is NOT what they should do.
When I consider what would I do if I were the holder of this type of information, what would I say to the people, the public, and the world? I would begin a series of disclosures that validate our ability to know the type of information we want to tell the people.
To be taken seriously one must be considered a Competent Authority. Maj. Dames used his assignment to the Unit to establish his credibility. Then its straight into the many dooms lined up to confront us. It leaves us all with a sense of helplessness and no small amount of anger when we can’t obtain further information.
Knowing full well the amount of work required to produce information of intelligence value, and then the corroboration of that data with other sources, I doubt that this has occurred at Psi-Tech.
Psi-Tech is not a Military Unit; Psi-Tech has no controls or requirements to quantify their data to the degree prior to publication that any Intelligence unit would be. The data produced by Psi-Tech concerning the Dooms would never be released by any competent intelligence unit on the public.
As Remote Viewers we don’t get to be quiet about that which threatens the credibility of a communications skill in it’s infancy. Psi-Tech does not get to make clowns of us all.
We must police our own. Hell I don’t hate Psi-Tech! I would like more than anyone to see them succeed. I would like to see the public awareness and participation in RV increase. I would like to see them get back on the ground and function as a competent group. If they do not they will fail as a commercial enterprise and do some serious damage to credibility of RV in general.
RV is first innovation that has a real chance of getting psychic functioning out of the realm of the Giggle Zone and into the Mainstream acceptance of the human ability. Let’s not Blow it!!!

Re: hits & misses
The hits & misses seem to be very generous toward the
prophetic statements. Some statements are so general
as to be impossible to score as misses, a common technique of psychic forecasters.
There are many psi-tech items not listed such as the
crop wipe outs caused by jet stream winds "on the deck"
and the death of a significant person, the Jon Bennet(sp?) murder followup, gold at $2000 / oz, etc.
Re: Precursor event, Psi-Tech conversation (Part 4 of 4)
Well, said, as always, Rainfall. I had forgotten ….briefly…..that you were allowed into the chat room in those days. Many a good row we had in there some of those nights…..beating our heads against the Joni wall while she maligned you and basically ignored the questions of the rest of us.
Major Dames has not mentioned the dying babies in about two years, now. Are they still going to die or is that another where he went forward with scanty and incorrectly analyzed data? Could he ever be enduced to respond to such a question on his website? Could you even post such a question on his website? Would Art Bell ever pose such a question to him, on the air? HELL NO!!!! Hold the phone, I just decided to personally launch a campaign to make sure that Bell nails him down, on this one, the next time he is on the air. No matter what happens, I will feel better for having tried to take him to task. I will do it, especially, for all the poor people who do not have internet access and only know the Dames that they hear on the radio.
I have typed his transcripts for a couple of years now and probably know better than anyone else what he has said on every Bell interview. I have masses of questions that have never been answered. I thought the passage of time would answer some of them but, so far, it hasn’t happened. (Not that I want babies to start dying so that I will know the facts) Could this man simply be an opportunist, using future trends for his own advantage? I get terribly angry at his attitudes and methods of operation (and hiding behind Joni) but I cannot say that I have really sensed deceit. Is he suffering from massive self-delusion?
I appreciate this opportunity to vent just a little.
By the by, GLenn, do you have any comment to make regarding Dames’ Earhart adventure? It seems to me that we discussed her in that very same chat room.
Kay

Re: hits & misses
Dames was supposed to send Bell a sealed envelope containing the name of a famous person who was to die….soon. This would be a good one to watch. I might add that neither of them has mentioned this for a long, long time and it also might just disappear into that mind is outside of time scenario that is so handy.

Aloha Kay! Sorry I missed meeting you when I was in Seattle. Maybe next time! :)
Yes, they lack decency and accountability.
What Ed Dames and Psi-Tech is doing is so incredulous that it is difficult for me to understand that people actually believe any of his predicitiions. I see Psi-Tech’s antics as a test for everyone to measure how in touch they are to their own truth. When reflecting on the possiblity of all the doom and gloom, my Truth Meter just goes to ZERO! The magnitude of the Psi-Tech "following" just goes to show how dismall the overall consciousness of our fellow humans is. :) Valtra.
Re: hits & misses
The hits & misses seem to be very generous toward the prophetic statements. Some statements are so general as to be impossible to score as misses, a common > technique of psychic forecasters.
You may have a point on some of the predictions, but it should added that some items currently listed as "partial hits" may, at year’s end, not qualify. Such as predictions where things are said to "increase", or "more & more" will occur. While a list of items/events may follow that prediction now, making it a "partial" (or "possible") hit, it won’t be until year’s end that a true statistical comparison with year’s past can be made. Something to keep in mind, in any case.
There are many psi-tech items not listed such as the crop wipe outs caused by jet stream winds "on the deck" and the death of a significant person, the Jon Bennet(sp?) murder followup, gold at $2000 / oz, etc.
The "Predictions ’98" list criteria was as follows – It had to be an event prophesied for 1998 specifically, and up to 20 predictions per person only. (Better to compare/contrast accuracy between ’em.) Any predictions that were too general (i.e., death of significant person) were not included. All predictions were from public appearances/websites.
In Dames’ case, I went through three different show transcripts to get those I did list. His others didn’t qualify as "trackable in ’98" for one reason or another, or were from much earlier appearances I suppose.
There will, of course, be a year-end analysis/article that delves into accuracy, methodology, etc. – more than just a run-down of hits/misses only. Keep an eye out for it in early Jan. if interested.
Re: Question for Peter P.
Of the eight people you’re tracking for future predictions, who in your opinion is the most accurate?
Well, not so much as opinion as going by the HITS/MISSES list to this point…
Robert Ghost Wolf has an accuracy rating of 35%.
That beats the others I’m currently tracking.
(His predictions are interpretations of Native prophecy.)
That is of the OTHER people I’m tracking. That said, a short explanation may be warranted here. When I decided to track ’98 predictions, after hearing Ghost Wolf list his in early Nov ’97, I decided for purposes of a year-end article, I needed a potential "hook".
My "hook" was this — Could I, a person with no professed gift of prophecy, score any better than the so-called "professional prophets"?
Before collecting any more predictions, I quickly made up a list of my own 20 predictions. At years’ start, I posted mine along with the others.
As of now, MY accuracy rating is 50%.
And note, some months ago I got volunteers to assist me in the tracking, each "assigned" to one set of predictions – except mine. While I certainly would NOT do it purposely, I didn’t even want to give the impression that my predictions were "favored" in any way, or others’ ignored in any way, as far as tracking goes. So an independent set of eyes for the others, in addition to me tracking the others, gives us twice the opportunity to catch relevent news articles.

Re: Precursor event, Psi-Tech conversation (Part 4 of 4)
We are in the process of putting up an example of how real remote viewing works. Four members of the HRVG (student viewers) were given a blind target. They worked it and did the detailed analysis required to come to educated conclusions about the target.
You will be able to see all of the raw data (zits and all ) and analysis…and you will be able to judge for yourself, did we psychically acquire data about the target. Were the things we said about it true and congruent? (We have demonstrated this many times on our sessions pages, but this was an example of 4 viewers working in concert, with student analysis.)
This student work will be posted sometime later this week. Look at the work and analysis very carefully. Go to PSI Tech (if you are not banned) and look at their best example of what they call remote viewing, Joni’s Helicopter Crash Session. Compare the work.
Then ask, do these people have the skills and credibility to tell us babies will be dying, an alien plant pathogen will kill all green plant life on earth (last summer), the sun is going to spew a killshot flare that will kill most of us, and the biblical Apocalypse is coming next month.
Re: Precursor event, Psi-Tech conversation (Part 4 of 4)
Dick,
I have not the expertise to really judge, of course, but what little I have seen on the PSI TECH website seems amateurish and incomplete compared to what I see posted here. Of course, I can’t go back for another look but that’s okay. I agree with your assessment.
Valtra,
There are lots of very vulnerable people out there. Did any of you hear the blind man who called to ask for help during Dames’ interview the other evening? Dames, of course, said there was nothing he could do for him. This poor guy has called Bell’s program several times….scared out of his mind…..blind and alone…..without resources….thinking that all hell is about to break loose and he can’t do anything for himself. Art always warns people not to listen if they are going to be disturbed but there are a lot of fragile folks out there. Dames tends to sound so credible and Art defends him constantly. A very dangerous mixture, I think.
I am personally disgusted with myself for hanging on with PSI TECH for so long. I could not possibly want to learn TRV that bad.
