Tunnel on Boston’s Big Dig opens, new $6.5 billion pathway to airport
Driver Ravi Jain waves from his car while waiting to be the first motorist to drive from Logan International Airport straight to the Massachusetts Turnpike, as the section of the massive Big Dig project opened to traffic.
Ravi Jain and his passenger, Stefan Economou, circled Logan for about four hours Saturday, spending $9 on tolls, waiting for the new road to open. On their car was a sign reading “Seattle or Bust.” Motorists can now drive Interstate 90 all the way from Logan to Seattle without leaving the highway for more than the occasional pit stop.
